So doing the whole job searching thing has got my parents talking about my look again, I think its there favourite topic. They speak about it every chance they get. Not sure why, if you compare me and my brother, he is the smarter looking one and should be better off, also he studied at UCT and got very far yet is earning nothing compared to me. One more thing to think about hey.
What I wanted to really know is that if someone came to an interview in a smart casual outfit would that be a bad thing? I mean I don’t own any shirts yet I got other clothes that are very smart. The type of thing I would got to work in sometimes.
How important is this to you, a fake person who is selling themselves to you or a passionate person who does not hide the truth about themselves.
I would love to know what other people think on this subject.

Sweet, so this may stress other people out but I got a month before my next contract starts so I get to do some freelance this month.
I’m keen on the idea as if I get the right jobs I can also then take some time off. Also I can maybe do some fun jobs this month to see what the rest of the world is doing during the day.
Anyway, if you need a web made from psd to html/php give me a shout.

I’m not a big fan on writing and I do try but every time I open this editor up I forget why I opened the damn thing up.
OK thinking hurts my brain today, I’m stressing as my current contract is up end of this month and still not got something for next month. Trying not to stress though as that make stupid come out to play.
Think a thought came to my head, I’ve got this great idea for a ad app but its still in thought process as I have no time to read the needed documents and write the needed documents to get started but so far the idea is unique and simple. Think that’s what I wanted to say but not 100%. What I need to find out is how one would get someone to invest in a persons idea with little or no documentation or what type of documentation is required to get someone to invest in it.
These are simple questions but if all fails there is no hell so I’m not worried.
Since been back on the job market I have found it strange how many places still used windows in a linux development company. They all say they need to test there stuff in IE and they cant afford anything else but erm linux is free and you only need one machine to run IE so you can view your sites before going out. I mean my mentor from my junior days never touch windows and I only remember him once checking out a site in IE to see how it looked. I think if I continue with this I might make a few people angry with some thoughts of mine. People say you always need to test your sites in IE before sending them out but why test when you know they going to work.
Tis Friday so we should all be happy that we lasted another week and now we can rest this weekend so we can start surviving a new week. If that’s your thought process I think its time you got a new job.
Tis Friday so we can see our friends and get some rest cause next week is going to be fun…. is a better answer but that makes me think of the homeless people I past coming to work this morning.
“Vote and Win” is what all the DA posters are saying but what are we going to win? Are the homeless going to get homes? are the hungry getting food? or is another party taking over the role of main con-artist in this country? When will the leaders stop thinking with there emotions and start making some arrangement to better this country. Only a idiot cant tell what is needed so why are they our leaders? if you tell me that one of them gave a good speak about a topic, I’ll ask who wrote it.
Hmm maybe some good news…
Well I sent my CV off to Afrigator got a quick response from them but still waiting for a call. That’s cool, it seems like a really nice place to work at. Also went for a interview today with some really nice guys. Not sure what the work environment is like but they where cool.

So its been awhile since I posted anything. had a small break and spent all my time working around my house. not really a break but I didn’t get near a computer for the whole week, which is different for me.
Anyway, so there are two things that top my mind today. First I see Google has released a operating system with all there app attached to it. The screen-shot look really cool and the amount of memory needed to run the OS is only 256 MB which is nothing compared to the average machine today. I’m a little worried about the usefulness of there OS without a internet connection as something that uses so little ram would be great for this country but if a 24/7 connection is needed then it might be a waste of time. I will have to wait and see though. don’t have a copy yet and not sure if I will be able to get one too soon.
On a happy note, two unknown people to me go engaged over twitter…
Still not sure how I feel about this, the whole thing is a virtual event so far, they are not in the same city at the moment so everything is happening over the net.
twitter.com/film_girl
twitter.com/grobertson
Well what ever happens I hope the two of them have a great life together and don’t spend too much of it in a virtual space.

Ok so you may have noticed I add some of the Google connect gadget. This is finally going to give an easy way of monitoring comments on this site as all I ever get is damn s p a m and I got sick of that and removed the comments feature.
I will see how this goes and hopefully all will be well and good.

Yes yes, its been awhile since I first spoke about converting my site to cakePHP and yes I still have not done that, I have started on the blog system but I am very fussy about the design and that’s going to take me awhile.
Busy formatting my external drive, its only 10GB but its going to take 50 minute’s because I am making sure there is nothing left on the drive, there have been a bunch of strange files appearing on it giving me issues so now I’m making sure they are gone.
Fun in the sun its Friday.(Not going to find me in the sun btw.)

Sweet, will dig to see how this all works and what the results will be like, I like testing these things out. Truth be told I never make any money out of them I do enjoy seeing how they work. Don’t think you wont make any money from it, I just never work hard on getting the visitors I need to make the cash. Note to self, make a plan to get the bigger banner on here.
I have recently started doing some more posts and am currently trying to think of a theme for this site to give relative content.
OK moving on got to get back to work, want to go home soon but need to get stuff done. I’ll be at Gotham tonight if anyone wants to see me.
Cheers for now..

So we have another ad system up now, its still in beta and you have to request a account but must say the pages you can see so far are very clean and have that great web2.0 felling to them. adgator.co.za I wonder if it a south african system only?
Hopefully I will get the change to test this system out but will have to just wait and see. Can’t say I have high traffic on this site but it is just a simple test thing for me.
I do try and blog every now and again but since my writing skills are not up to scratch its something I can easily put off, I did mainly start this site to write more. so far I’ve written more code than content. Yes I have started on the cake re-develop but that is the last thing I’m working on now a days.

Wanna comment on my site? haha sucks to be you then, I removed comments as I was been bomb barded with spam and all the anti-spam filters/plugins I installed failed, they stopped all users from commenting or broke the page.
Since everyone is talking about it, big up to the USA people for finally getting a black person to run your country, South Africa did that over 10 years ago now so glade to see you are finally catching up.
I’m sure I had more to chat about but think that’s it for now.

I was working on my home machine the other day, cleaning up files and trying to remove un-needed folders and so forth. Thats cool yes nothing wrong with that. except I was doing it on a linux live system and when I rebooted into windows, it did not work anymore :(
Well thats cool, I then install Ubuntu 7 thinking that could do everything I need… wrong, in order for ubuntu to be useful at all you need a internet connection and that is something I don’t have at home. A standard install of Ubuntu you cannot watch dvd’s which is the main usage of my home pc, plus a number of other things, avi files don’t play without downloading the codec. I got a copy of vlc source hoping that this would solve the issue only to find out that the version of gcc cannot create executables. Great, what now? I am hoping to get a copy of fedora soon which could solve the problem but for now I have LindowsOS running which plays all the avi/dvds I need it to how every does not connect to SCSI drives where the avi’s are located.
This has made me wonder how far the linux desktop has come. When I think of a home machine the first thing I think of is no internet connection with the need to watch dvds and connect to local machines to share files. Also the need to mount hard drives and configure sounds cards is not on the menu of tasks to be done. The later versions handle some of the harder tasks but simple things are left out.
In the end the question I have on my mind on this topic is the open source going in the right direction? OS’s like Unbuntu are been targeted to third world countries where there is little chance of having a internet connection yet there system requires a connection….
